A lot of new things on the site. A sudden burst of updates -- galleries in the Weddings, Engagements, and Family Portraits sections.
I've heard a lot of talk recently about blogging, and it's something I've struggled with for, well, years. During my college days, I was a Xangaholic, but even then, I had my lulls where I didn't update. Though I'm worried people might see my lack of updates here on this site as evidence that I'm not doing anything, I know I could do more to show people that, yes, I am still around and working.
This year started off with a bang -- my video for Julissa won her a trip...

I started Candor Studios to put my talents to use. Right now, it's my main source of income, but times have been tough. I'm new to creating businesses -- I've often dreamed about creating different types of businesses, but Candor Studios is my first official foray into creating something akin to a career for myself. Since this is my first real business, I've had to go through a lot of changes as I learn and grow.
One of the hardest things I've had to work with are prices. How does a photographer put a price on his work? If you take a look at the website now, my services and rates have moved...

It's been a while since I posted, and I kept reminding myself to put this up on the blog because it's great news -- Julissa Garcia Guajardo is going to New York for Fashion Week!
I've been procrastinating on announcing it, but, yes, it's official and has been for more than a week. It started with checking the YouTube page and seeing congratulatory messages. I went over to Mally's Facebook page and saw the official announcement:
Announcement from the Mally Beauty Team!!! We just want to thank you ALL again for entering our Makeup Artist Contest! It is so beautiful to see the support and bonding...

Julissa is a finalist!
Her Candor Studios produced video is a top eight finalist for the Mally makeup artist contest. The winner will be announced January 26th, so please get to voting!
How do you vote? You leave a comment on the link below.
Julissa Garcia -- Finalist!
For good measure, hit the "like" button. I'm not too sure on the rules, but a voter will be chosen at random for a New York trip. Whether you have to subscribe to Mally's YouTube page, I'm not sure.
Anyways, please vote. Send Julissa to New York, and make me a happy filmmaker.

Julissa messaged me about filming a video for her because she wanted to enter a makeup artist contest. The winner would get flown to New York City for Fashion Week to meet Mally and do some makeup. Julissa and I talked about ideas, and we decided to have her host a tutorial at her husband's office. The original idea was to film the tutorial and splice some video. It had to be under four minutes long, so I wanted to pack a lot of different footage and photos into it.
We filmed the tutorial, and then we filmed an interview a few days later at her house. There was a bit of miscommunication, and Julissa...

I got hacked last year, and I recently found out that some of the files for the site were still infected with whatever it was.
I think it's clean now. My anti-virus isn't showing anything, but it might be a good idea to scan your computer if you've visited my site in the past few months. I don't think the virus will affect personal computers as the attack got pages to redirect to another site. Just in case, though -- please scan your computer.
I had to write over some of the web files, and some of the page settings got changed. I'm in the process of redoing some of the pages and getting...

I got ready for a photo shoot today -- a session over at Mission Park Elementary School via Julie, one of teachers there. I put on slacks, a dress shirt and ran through a list of "unforgettables" -- lights, black socks, nice shoes and whatever else I needed.
I started to pack the car while trying not to carry too much at a time -- I've been challenging myself to slow down and be a little more careful. I've dropped my phone so many times because I tend to overwhelm myself with things to carry. The one thing I couldn't find was my camera bag.
Where was it? Did I leave it in the car?
Nope,...

Welcome to Candor Studios 4.0. The last website was my favorite -- so far -- but this new one has given me the chance to display my photographs in a dynamic way. This layout keeps it simple, gives the user more control, and gives me more to work with.
I spent hours today working on the site, filling it with pictures, labeling, and making it look really nice. There's still much more to go. You are watching Candor Studios grow from a one-man photographer to a one-man business hoping to take larger steps in the coming years. I don't know what God has planned for me, but I'm watching Him work in my life....
